Parent to parent social support and resources for new parents experiencing perinatal distress (depression, anxiety, isolation, hopelessness, exhaustion, panic, etc.). You are not alone, dear mom or dad. We are parents who understand and can help.
What happens in baby's first year (aka the Postpartum Period) is deeply important to the health and survival of the family. The stress of the adjustment to parenthood is enormous. Yet, with education of the families and those who care for them, helping the parents-to-be prepare for the unknown of Postpartum, and supporting the family through the first year, we as a community can make a real difference in the lives of a new family.
So many new parents wonder what is wrong with them, feel ashamed, and wish for even one person to talk to so they can understand what they are experiencing. The volunteers at PPSF are parents who've been there, get it, and know how to reach out and support new parents, whatever the adjustment issue, and assure them that they are not alone, they are not to blame, and with help they will be well.
