Enchanted Forest Free School Study Trips

Study trips run from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday through Thursday. All study trips include a 30-minute lunch break and a 45-minute hike through the woods.

All Grade Levels: General Guided Hike and Presentation
Dive into the wild worlds of scrub and hammock habitats, discovering the amazing flora and fauna of these Florida ecosystems! 1-1.5 hours.

Grades VPK-K: Nature Senses
Explore the five senses and learn how animals use them to survive. Enjoy a hike, hand-on activities, and meet our red rat snake Ember! 2-2.5 hours.

Grades 1-2: Scrub Explorers
Discover the unique plants and animals of our scrub habitat through an interactive hike and hands-on activities. 2-2.5 hours.

Grades 3-8: Tortoise Tracks
Delve into the mysterious world of gopher tortoises! Channel your inner scientist to unveil the mysteries of these secretive critters and their burrows! 2.5-3 hours.

Grades 6-8: (can also be 9-12): A Forest On Fire
Learn how and why we spend so much time setting Florida on Fire. This program focuses on the benefits of prescribed burns for both humans and animals. Enjoy a hike, do fire related worksheets and discover why Fire is actually a great thing! 2.5-3 hours.

Grades 9-12: Soil-in-the-Scrub Field Study
Become a Florida scrub ecologist. Study plant diversity, soil permeability, and the effects of prescribed burns. This hands-on experience deepens ecological knowledge and highlights human impact on delicate habitats. 3-4 hours.
