Join the Marine Resources Council and IDEAS For Us in planting mangroves in the Indian River Lagoon, an essential ecosystem that is at risk from rising sea levels and increased storm intensity. Mangroves will work to improve the soil health, reduce erosion, and provide habitat and carbon sequestration.
We will meet at the Lagoon Learning Center for a discussion on the Indian River Lagoon and how this project will serve the ecosystem. Volunteers will plant the mangroves throughout the shoreline in front of the newly barrier reef.
Please wear close toed water shoes and worn clothes. Make sure to sign up for all participating parties, there are limited spaces.
