
MRC runs one of the largest licensed mangrove nursery in the state of Florida. Our Palm Bay Lagoon House is the site of our smaller nursery with ~1000 plants. This nursery is showcased in our educational program and the plants are used for restoration projects across the state.
What will volunteers do?
At mangrove workshops, volunteers help with nursery maintenance while learning about mangrove care and restoration projects. Task generally include potting, re-potting, weeding, and watering plants.
This volunteer opportunity is available for students ages 6 and up with parent or guardian supervision. Email to sign up.
Volunteers should be prepared to be in the Florida heat and humidity. Hats, water, sunscreen (or UPF clothing), and close-toed shoes are required. Gloves, trash bags, and trash pickers are provided, There is a bathroom, water fountain, and building with AC on site for breaks.
