Florida Academy of Baking: Perfect Summer Cookie

In this hands-on decorating class, you’ll learn everything from scratch — literally. We’ll start by making our sugar cookie dough from the ground up, mixing, rolling, and cutting our mini summer shapes before popping them in the oven. While they bake and cool, you’ll learn how to make royal icing, understand how consistency affects your results, and mix a vibrant summer color palette to bring your cookies to life.


Then comes the fun part. You’ll decorate a full set of mini summer cookies — watermelon slices, ice cream cones, popsicles, pineapples, cacti, and tropical leaves — using flooding, piping, and detail work techniques that give each design its own personality. We’ll cover everything from clean flood fills and wet-on-wet effects to texture piping and adding dimension with sprinkles and embellishments.
