  • When: Saturday, July 25, 2026,  9:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Location: Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center 1987 Scrub Jay Way #32782 Titusville, FL 32782
  • Cost: $18.00

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by creating one of our nation’s most enduring symbols, the Bald Eagle. This beginner-friendly workshop introduces the basics of crochet while guiding participants through the creation of a Bald Eagle using a pre-packaged crochet kit.

As participants learn foundational crochet techniques, they’ll also discover the remarkable conservation story of the Bald Eagle. Once threatened by habitat loss and environmental contaminants, Bald Eagles have made a remarkable recovery thanks to decades of conservation efforts. Today, they serve as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved through stewardship, science, and community action.

Whether you’re picking up a crochet hook for the first time or looking to learn a new creative skill, this hands-on program offers a relaxing and creative way to commemorate America 250 while celebrating our nation’s wildlife heritage. Program fee includes all materials and no prior crochet experience is required.

Participants will view photographs of Bald Eagles nesting at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and learn how habitat protection plays a vital role in the conservation of this remarkable species.
