Sea Oats Planting Event: City of Cape Canaveral

- Location: Any public beach crossover in Cape Canaveral (supplies will be waiting)!

Each year, the City of Cape Canaveral plants sea oats along its dunes to protect our shoreline from the destructive forces of erosion, and we need your help planting 17,760 sea oats!
Sea oats help to strengthen the City’s critical natural dune network with their thick root systems and serve as a first line of defense against coastal flooding, storm surge, and sea level rise. With this year's plants, the City will have planted 196,838 sea oats since 2005 (when reliable record keeping for the initiative began), putting the City on track to meet its goal of planting 220,000 sea oats by 2035
